Feedback for the
Back to Basics course:
"The step by step
approach was invaluble is helping me to really look
at the figure and turn what I saw into a believable drawing. Despite having drawn for
years, the back-to-basics course helped to learn techniques that I now
use constantly when I draw and has above all helped turned something 3d
into a 2d medium."

10 Fridays,
7:00-9:30pm. Bethnal Green, E2 (central
Line).

class is kept
purposefully small so
places
are limited and
booking
is essential.
This is not a drop-in class. Should you not be able to attend one or
more of the sessions, you can attend the respective sessions in the
next Back to Basics course, at no extra cost. We run about 3-4 per year.
Designed
specifically to provide the basics of life drawing to anyone with an
interest - from those who have not drawn in life room
settings
before to those more experienced who want to refresh their
drawing
skills. This systematic 10
week course will
teach you the essentials
such as the techniques needed to properly construct the human body in
space; how to measure accurately; basic anatomy; we also spend time
with the more complex forms such as hands, feet, eyes, ears, nose,
mouth. And we look at the various life drawing methods and
practices, and how we can incorporate our drawing practice into our
everyday lives.
The course is practice-based,
not lecture-based: because the only way you can
really understand the ideas and concepts taught is by doing it
yourself.
After this
course, you will be knowledgeable, experienced and confident
enough to join any life drawing class up
to intermediate level. The emphasis in this course is on practice
throughout: you will be gaining hours upon hours of drawing
experience.
